Why is regular cleaning necessary

Clogging of drains is a common problem amongst Chicago residents. Clogging happens when the dirt or debris gets accumulated inside the drain pipe. The accumulation of debris does not happen overnight but it takes days, weeks, or months before it becomes a greater problem but before that, it is undetectable. Once the accumulated debris becomes hard, it requires practices such as hydro-jetting or power rodding to remove this debris. It not only takes more money but consumes a considerable amount of your precious time. Moreover, a clogged drain means that you won’t be able to use your bathroom, kitchen, or laundry until it is cleaned. Adding to this dilemma, a clogged drain means that waste is stuck inside the pipe which eventually compromises the structural integrity of the pipes and causes leaks or breakages. Once your drain is clogged, debris starts accumulating in other drain pipes too. In some cases when the drainpipe needs frequent repairs, you may even have to get the drain pipe replaced which can cost you a lot. But, you can avoid all these problems just by cleaning the drains regularly. The perfect drain cleaning by our professional plumbers promises hassle-free activities to our customers.

Steps to drain cleaning

We provide a comprehensive service in which we check all the drains including main sewer line, kitchen and bathroom sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, and floor drains. After this, we locate the root of the problem. To make sure the problem is solved completely, we identify the exact location of the debris. For this purpose, we use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques. For instance, we insert a cable into your toilet or sink and down towards the drain. There is a camera attached at the head of this cable which transmits the video. The video is monitored by our expert and he is able to pinpoint the exact location. Next, depending on the size of the debris and the cause of the clog, the plumber will suggest a number of techniques to your along with their details. A clog may need high-pressure water jetting or it may need power rodding. If the roots of a tree or a broken pipe is the cause of the clogging, we also provide the option of trenchless sewer repair. Through this technique, we solve the problem without doing further damage to your property. After the drain is cleaned, we test the flow of water to make sure that there are no other clogs in the drain which is why once your drain is cleaned by the experts at CJ Plumbing & Heating, you won’t be victimized by clogging for a long time.

How to find out that your drain needs repair

Look out for the following signs to find out if your drain needs repair

1. The water level of your toilet is the most basic indicator. If you see inconsistent water levels you need a repair. High levels followed by low water levels can indicate a bigger potential problem.
2. If you hear strange noises when the water drains from your pipes, there is a high possibility that your pipes need repair.
3. The slow drainage of water from your sinks, toilets, basin, or laundry may indicate that the sewer line is either broken or needs repair.
4. Mice, rats, insects, and cockroaches live in the sewers. If you observe these pests inside your house it may indicate that a sewer line is broken allowing them to enter your house.
5. Multiple plumbing problems are no coincidence. They are a consequence of a broken or leaking sewer.
6. The sewer line usually runs under your yard so if you can see any patches of water in your yard that you can’t explain, a broken sewer pipe is causing them.
7. Another indication that you need to get your drainpipe repaired is if there is foul smell inside your house. The waste is not able to exit from the sewer lines and as a result, its smell enters your house. The harmful gasses from such waste can also lead to a number of health issues such as respiratory problems.
8. The cracks under your home can also indicate that a broken sewer line is affecting the foundation and eventually the structural strength of your house

Steps to repair

CJ Plumbing & Heating offers a wide array of services. Our high-skilled plumbers are equipped with the latest tools and techniques to provide comprehensive services to our customers. Depending on the problem and the cause of clogging, we choose the appropriate method to completely eradicate the problem. To identify the extent and cause of your problem, we use video cameras. These cameras are inserted into the pipes and the feed is monitored by our expert to determine the technique most suitable for the situation. If there are roots or large objects causing the clogging of your drainpipe, we use power rodding. In this technique, a rod is inserted into the drainpipe with blades at the top. These blades rotate through an electrical connection which allows us to cut through the obstacles and clean the pipe. If the clogging is caused by accumulation of debris, we use hydro-jetting where we insert a nozzle inside the drainpipe. This nozzle is attached to a pipe that is attached to a water tank. The water is pushed through the nozzle at a very fast pace which further pushes the debris into the sewer line and effectively removes the clog. For the repair of sewer lines without doing any harm to your property, we use the technique of sewer pipe relining in which we use a special substance called epoxy. The epoxy is applied to the internal side of the sewer pipes’ wall. It takes the shape of the gaps or leaks and strengthens the pipe. For extreme cases where the sewer line has completely collapsed and relining can not be done, we perform pipe bursting. We insert a cable inside the old pipe by digging holes at its ends. This cable comes with a pipe bursting head and on pulling the cable from one side, the old pipe is replaced with a new pipe made of corrosion-free material, polyethylene.
